Jim Monkey has many great ideas when it comes to unifying humanity. His Local Host Program is just one of them.
Do you love meeting new people, learning about other cultures and talking about your own? Would you like to help Jim Monkey by serving as host to travelers if they should come to your area? It's kind of like being a personal tour guide, only more like a friend. Don't worry, it does not mean you have to treat the travelers to a day on the town. Who knows, you might even meet Jim Monkey and his travel buddies.
Perhaps you'd like to take them to your favorite outdoor café or museum. Maybe you'd like to show your visitors some great hiking trails or significant historical landmarks. Just be creative, steer away from clichés.
We are looking for Local Hosts who are friendly, outgoing, fun, curious, adventurous and knowledgable about the area you live in. We will match Local Hosts with travelers based on various criteria as submitted in the application forms, including languages spoken. It would help if you can speak English, but it is not required.
Local Hosts are volunteers. They receive no financial compensation from OTC and no financial compensation from the travelers.
This is a great opportunity to meet new, interesting and like-minded people, and your visitors will surely appreciate the friendly, personal touch of a local who is familiar with the area.
We would love to read about your experience and see some pictures from your adventure with your visitors as a new topic in Jim Monkey's Forum.
If becoming a Local Host appeals to you, please submit your registration here. You will be notified if any visitors come your way. Thank you for your interest and your desire to participate in a worthwhile cause!
When we travel somewhere new it can take a lot of effort and experience to find what is really worth seeing in a particular area. Sometimes we are intimidated by language barriers. The Local Host Program makes all of these uncertainties disappear. It will also give you a whole new perspective, just like visiting a good friend. Try some food the locals actually eat, attend local sporting events, festivals or parties. Your Local Host can help you find something out of the ordinary, making your experience everlasting and creating memories you will cherish forever.
Are you planning a vacation and would you like a friendly local to show you around a little? This is what it's all about. Friendly, curious travelers looking for like-minded locals to show them the sites they might never find in a travel brochure or on a map. Best of all, it's FREE!
We would love to read about your experience and see some pictures from your adventure with your Local Hosts as a new topic in Jim Monkey's Forum.
Register here if you would like us to match you with a Local Host for your next vacation.
